Ever wanted to have a go at printmaking? With 22 printmakers exhibiting at the Oxmarket Centre of Arts from 10th to 22 November, including free talks and a workshop suitable for all ages, now is your chance.
I will be one of a number of talented artists from five local and London studios will be showing their wonderfully varied and colourful works at the Oxmarket. Exhibiting studios include: Omega Printmakers, Portsmouth; Red Hot Press, Southampton; Ochre Print Studio, Guildford; Sussex Printmaking Studio, Partridge Green and Southbank Printmakers, London. Over the two weeks of the exhibition, three separate sessions will take place with individual artists from various studios.
Thursday 12th at 4.30 pm – a talk on wood engraving by Garrick Palmer of Omega Printmakers. Garrick is a well-known artist and wood engraver, who has produced many beautiful book illustrations for publishers. A retrospective exhibition of Garrick Palmer’s work was held at the Pallant House Gallery in Chichester in 2011. His work is held in many private and public collections.
Saturday 14th, 11am to 4.30pm – a drop in workshop session with Annee Robson and Ruth Barrett Danes of Ochre Print Studio. Come and have a go at screen printing, monoprinting, collagraph and drypoint (children welcome). Annee is a printmaker/educator and is joint Director of Ochre Print Studio. Ruth is a ceramist as well as printmaker, has exhibited widely and her work is held in collections both in the UK and abroad.
Tuesday 17th at 1pm – a talk by Sarah Mander, an artist, printmaker, teacher and founder of Red Hot Press. Find out about etchings, collagraphs and how Sarah set up and continues to run Red Hot Press.
